Many may recall the Million March for Children that was held across Canada on September 20, 2023.

Shortly after the March, A friend submitted a request to the City of Pickering requesting all communications by staff and council leading up to the March. She did this with suspicion that some of the handling had not been above water.

Last week she received the 100+ page disclosure encompassing all of the email and text communications that transpired between staff and City council. Most of these are mundane. Just normal correspondence between staff and counsellors discussing how their teams would handle the complexities of a large public protest.

But, as expected, there were plenty of salacious examples of partisan behaviour shining through, such as when Kevin, who I am presuming is referring to the mayor of Pickering Kevin Ashe, asked whether these were ‘good or bad people’. It’s not a great look for a public official to be branding a certain portion of their electorate as ‘bad’ people, regardless of what they might believe.

There’s plenty to look at and I can’t comment on all of it in this video, so I’m going to focus on one element in particular: Pickering’s Flag flying controversy.
